On previous visits to wembley, I have had to hustle and bustle through the gates, and combat 20,000 flights of stairs to find my seat which is normally way at the back far from all the action.
So, to be pitch side on such a great occasion amongst some of my idols was honestly a dream come true.
The Occasion: Ian Wrights 'One More Game'.
After reaching 1 million followers on twitter, Wright gave back to some of his followers by giving them the chance to play alongside him at Wembley for his final game. Now, I would be satisfied with a follow back on twitter, actually, I would be ecstatic! So I could only imagine how all of those young men felt when they got the call up.
Sadly there was no call ups for a female centre back otherwise I would have been all over it! BUT, there was one very well known female in the game..
YES! To women in football! Arsenal and England player Alex Scott was the gaffer for Team Wrighty (Ian Wright) at #Wembley yesterday. That's right, a female football manager in men's football 😀. This young lady was the main reason why I started playing football almost 10 years ago ( don't ask me what happened 🙈) and its amazing to see how far she has come. Mate she has more England caps than Frank Lampard!
However, I was more than happy to stand pitch side along with my Arsenal Fan Tv crew and grab some interviews from the partakers and the legends. I had a quick chat with Wretch 32 at the half time whistle and here is what he had to say..
It was one of those moments that I would cherish forever, I was so grateful for Ian Wright and Ball street for inviting us down to this special day. There were moments where I just stood on the touchline and gazed around the stadium taking in the view, because lets be honest, God knows when I'll get another view like that again from Wembley.
Just when I thought I had won the lotto with the press box view, being pitch side stole my heart, that was for the real VIP media on FA Cup Final days, England Fixtures and major sporting events. It felt like home. For now I am renting my spot on that touchline, but soon I will own it! Step aside Jake Humphrey lol.
I also managed to have a quick catch up with a couple of the reasons why I support Arsenal. This was the first time I had met Martin Keown and during our very brief encounter he gave me some great tips for my career. A priceless moment.
With Love, from Wembley
